Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions- 'Bavarian Fruit Bread'

When fashion school chicks turn 22 and move to Brooklyn, they cop an apathetic, brooding attitude toward everything and listen Chelsea Wolfe because it compliments their Ann Demeulemeester. They would buy a Scout Niblett record but 'What is she wearing?!
Well, in 2001 those girls were 13 and Hope Sandoval was delivering soul crushing blows to the human spirit. That's it really.

Cowboy Junkies- 'The Trinity Session' and 'The Caution Horses'

Margo Timmins making it very easy for me to smoke a whole pack sitting alone in the dark. 1988's 'The Trinity Session', featuring the Velvet Underground cover 'Sweet Jane' went platinum in the USA and double platinum in Canada. 'The Caution Horses' released in 1990 features a more polished, pop rock sensibility and contains the singles 'Sun Comes up, It's Tuesday Morning' and 'Rock and Bird'. If 'Trinity' is Van Zandt, I would say 'Horses' is Kristofferson. Neither record does too much for the health of my lungs however.
